"EYEBROW threading? Really? That's random, but so interesting." Yes, yes, and yes, we know. Then would come the harder, inevitable question: "Why threading?" As friends, family members and professors asked us about our project, Threading On, that was a question we had to grapple with and answer for ourselves.

Threading has been our go-to eyebrow grooming method since we were 18, long before we even imagined that we would one day write stories – let alone 10,000 words – on this technique. We never gave much thought about it. It was simply a means to an end, costing us less than $10 and just five minutes of mild pain to look better.

A quick Google search also showed us that we weren't alone. There were no statistics online, no documentation of its growth, no in-depth reports on the industry's inner workings. Yet, as we investigated, speaking to threaders and their bosses all over the island, we discovered that threading isn't just skin-deep.

Behind the scenes are colourful characters, unexpected challenges, and so much more. And hopefully, our stories showed that.
